Business need
The organisation was looking for new ways to exploit its rich heritage of TV and film intellectual property. It got members of its Archive Sales Team from London, Los Angeles, Berlin and Singapore together for two intense days of brainstorming, research and planning to come up with new product and packaging ideas.
MaST involvement
MaST facilitators were brought in to help the team quickly to identify:
- Team building behaviours and how to enhance them
- Team blocking behaviours and how to remove them
Participants also did a crash course in understanding different communication styles. They learned how to adapt their own preferred style to the preferred styles of their colleagues in order to communicate more effectively.
When they were ready participants then worked in four competitive sub-teams to produce new product and packaging ideas.
Outcome
Of the four teams, two produced new product ideas with real, long-term potential for the company. One group however came up with a product idea which was ready for immediate production and this team won an initial development budget to take their idea forward the next day!
