Public Sector People Management Expo – 21/22 September 2005
The PSPM Expo was a great opportunity to meet new people and hear about the issues that they are facing in the Public Sector. With our experience in this sector, it didn’t come as a surprise that many people were interested in management development.
Conference Session with MaST - Emotional Intelligence 22nd September 9:30am - 10:45am
This topic proved to be a popular choice for the PSPM delegates - over 80 of them attended our session.
The session explored how emotional intelligence can help people to lead change in their organisations and examined how leaders can employ diversity in creating and implementing change.
The session was interactive and gave the delegates an opportunity to share some of their thoughts and ideas on the subject. We also talked about some of the principles that were used in the Swindon Borough Council’s Leadership Academy which MaST help to set up.

Case study
In 2003 Swindon Borough Council was identified by government inspectors as a poor performing council (in 2004 SBC was graded one category higher, as ‘weak’). Senior managers knew this was a wake-up call to initiate major change at all levels of the organisation.
