Executive Coaching - March 2005

1st March 2005 - Kirtons Farm Hotel, Reading

9th March 2005 - Novotel Tower Bridge, London

2nd November 2005 - The Park Royal, Warrington

'How do we meet the challenges of executive coaching to make sure it delivers business value?'

In a burgeoning coaching market, it's a tough challenge to find excellent coaches and equally tough to be sure you're getting value for your investment. To make things even more complicated, the market uses ambiguous terms, causing confusion and making it hard to know what you are buying.

So how can we best face the many challenges and reduce the risk in buying coaching?

Some of the biggest challenges are proving to be:

  • Selling the concept internally - especially to senior management
  • Getting the starting process right - contractual considerations
  • Defining the boundaries - confidentiality v feedback

Summary of forum

Although we don't profess to have all the answers to these challenges, we believed they were of such great significance that we should provide our forum members with the opportunity to debate them and share their thoughts and ideas with one another and our MaSTerCoach team.

The outcome of our lively discussions included:

  • Boundaries that it is important to agree
  • What needs to be included in the contract with the purchaser, and in the psychological contract with the individual
  • How to Measure the effectiveness of the coaching programme v objectives, rather than just the satisfaction with the coach
  • Suggestions for getting buy-in for coaching both from the individual and senior management

During the session we heard both from those who were experienced in buying coaching and those who were new to the idea of coaching. People readily shared their ideas on all aspects of coaching which greatly added to our joint pool of knowledge on making sure coaching offers real business value.

What our delegates said:

“A good opportunity to share feedback on coaching”.

“Good to meet the MaST coaches”.

“Good food for thought and actions, thanks”.

“Really useful and informative. Made me think of things that I never considered”.

“Covered key areas of coaching that deals with organisation and individuals that sometimes is overlooked”.
